The retest is currently expected to occur early in the week of 1/23, though this may shift later as necessary for students who were absent.

Greetings Math Parents.

We are all looking forward to a three-day weekend with Monday's MLK Jr holiday. Thank you to those parents who donated much needed Expo markers. We have two class sets that will last a few weeks.  Today, Math 8 and Math I students had a Quiz. Some students did not finish, so I gave an extension to Tuesday morning at 8:00 am. Please check to see in Google Classroom that "1/13/23 Quiz" is completed. This applies to Math 8 and Math I students. Lastly, our Math Check-In will be Wednesday, January 25 at 8:15 am. Have a super weekend.

ELA:

1) Your Characterization & Best Evidence test is tomorrow! A good way to study is to pick some characters from the short story, decide one or two character traits you think fit each character, and then find evidence in the story to support those character traits. The short story is posted in Google Classroom for your reference. There is no retest on this test.

2) Periods 4 & 5: Remember that in order to watch the movie in class on Friday, EVERYONE in the class must have a completed character chart, including specific evidence from the story, at the very beginning of Friday's class.

A.  Select the court case for your research.  (See me if you are still having trouble finding a court case!)

B. Take notes on the background, ruling and impact of the court case using a GOOGLE DOC titled "Part 2 U.S. Constitution Project".  

C.  Use at least 3 different sources which should be cited using the Wise Owl application from Purdue University.

Work on your Food Web project draft.  If you are working with a partner, both people must have a working copy of your draft. You will create 1 final poster together.

3.  Answer the 3 questions from the reading located in GC

1.  Part 2 Workday #1

Steps Today:

A.  Create a new doc for research and label it "Part 2 Constitution Project"

B.  Use the 3 resources linked in GC to find for a Supreme Court Case in which the Amendment you studied in part 1 was cited.  If you cannot find a case using the resources provided, please find your own source or ask for help!

C.  Read about the court case and take notes on your document as you read about the case.

*Our next project work day will be next Tuesday, January 10th.

Math Tutoring Session Thursday, January 5, 2023 3:45-4:45 pm

We will have math tutoring tomorrow from 3:45-4:45 pm. Math 8 tutoring is every Tuesday and Thursday. If you have not signed up and are interested in enrolling your child, send me an email at rkozak@voyageracademy.net. We have, on average, 6 to 8 students every session. I do hand out snacks during tutoring as students are usually hungry at that time. 

Math 8 and Math I

 Greetings parents. I hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday. We are looking forward to a super second semester, the halfway point to 9th grade. It has been a great first semester in math class. Students have a project due when they return. Be sure to ask them about it. Here's what students learned: 

Math 8 Semester 1:

1. Transformations 2. Equations, Inequalities, and Angles 3. Intro to Functions 4. Linear Functions 5. Systems of Equations

Next, we will learn about 6. Exponents and Scientific Notation, 7. Real Numbers 8. Pythagorean Theorem 9. Volume 10. Statistics

Math I learned about 1. Equations and Introduction to Functions 2. Linear Functions 3. Sequences. 

Next, Math I students will learn about 1. Exponential Functions, 2. Quadratic Functions 3. Systems of Equations and Inequalities. 

HELP!! We are in desperate need of tons of expo markers as we have exhausted our supply. These are important as I use them to check for understanding.
