Science

1 - Finish "More About Ice Cores" if you did not finish in class today. 

2 - Finish your Radioactive Decay Lab if you did not turn it in today. Finish any incomplete work. 

3 - Your next science quiz is Thursday, April 25.  Topics covered: fossils, relative & absolute age, ice cores, natural selection, evolution. 

4 - Optional: The March Mammal Madness Enrichment activity is due Friday, April 26.  Show me your completed bracket.  Use the videos (posted in GC - look for the "March Mammal Madness" topic) to score your bracket.  Write your Reflection Summary using the prompts (posted in GG).  Submit your work by Friday, April 26.

Core Connections:

Please make sure that you have submitted your Water Poster in the following places:

1. Upload a picture onto the last slide from the Water Poster Slideshow.

2. Upload a digital entry to the City of Durham Poster Contest.

3.  Turn in the paper copy to me. Make sure your name and class period are on the back.

Science: 
1- Finish the Radioactive Decay of Candium Lab if you did not finish in class / MTSS today. This is due on Monday, April 15.
2 - Optional: If you are doing the March Mammal Madness enrichment:
  • Complete your new bracket (if yours is 'busted').  New predictions are due Monday, April 15. 
  • Use the Rodent Roundtable videos to score your bracket in each round. These will be posted in Google Classroom in the March Mammal Madness section.
  • Determine your Total Points.
  • Write a summary reflection of what you learned and discovered.  Writing prompts for this will be posted soon - stay tuned!

Bring back your signed permission/denial letter for the upcoming Health Department presentations. The signed form is due Friday, April 12.

Science:

1 - Complete the BrainPop: Carbon Dating assignments if you did not finish during class.  Please work in this order: 1)Movie, 2) Challenge, 3) Review Quiz, 4) Graded Quiz.  The Quiz will count as a classwork grade, but only if all other parts of this are completed. 

2 - Finish the EdPuzzle: Radioactive Decay. 

3 - Optional Enrichment: Continue to score your March Mammal Madness bracket.  If your predicted 'winners' of Round 1 are no longer in the competition, ask Mrs. Graham for a new form (or print one using this link).  Once you have show me your completed new bracket, I'll tell you where to find the Rodent Roundtable videos to continue scoring your bracket. After scoring your bracket, you will submit a summary / reflection of your experience (writing prompt will be posted later).

Social Studies:

1.  Complete I.N. Activity L8/R8 (classwork)

2.  Gimkit review (classwork)

3.  Complete the trading card/due tomorrow 

4.  Read Ch. 18 Section 4 "The New Immigrants" pp.  625-629 (homework)

5.  Review for your quiz (homework)

6.  Make sure that your rough draft of your Arpillera is complete BEFORE you come to class tomorrow.  This is done in pencil on the back of the brainstorming sheet!

ELA:

Periods 1, 3, 4, 5:

1) Today's warmup (if not finished in class today) -- you must retake the assignment until you get >=80% OR until you have tried 3 times.


Period 2:

Unit retest is postponed to Monday due to class time lost to testing.


If Planning to Retake the Unit Test, these are the requirements:

1) Study guide turned in ON TIME

2) Complete any assignments marked "missing" (or "absent") in Jupiter from Quarter 4

3) Error Remediation (in Google Classroom) -- we will work on this a little bit together in class tomorrow - due tomorrow

4) Revised constructed responses (from the test) -- we will work on this in class tomorrow

Great job on your ELA Check In today!  Tomorrow the Math 8 and Math 1 NC Check In will be administered.  Please make every effort to be on time for school with your fully charged device and charger. Bring a book to read if you finish before testing is completed. 

Please make sure you bring back your signed permission / denial parent form for the upcoming presentation by the Durham County Health Department.  Your signed form is due on or before this Friday, April 12. 

Science:

1 - Read "How Fossils are Made," underlining important vocabulary words.  Complete the crossword puzzle on the back, using the words you highlighted / underlined as clues. 

2 - Review and study your notes on geologic time, fossils, and index fossils.

ELA:
