Core Connections:

1. Today, you're wrapping up your Social Studies projects (due Friday).

2. You're also working on your Water Poster (also due Friday).
  • Remember, the Poster Contest's theme is "Slow the Flow: Save H20."  That means that the theme is conserving (saving) water.
  • Think back to your 2nd-grade and 4/5th-grade activities - how can you save water in your household use?
  • Look back over your PowerPoint from earlier this week to review 8th-grade concepts on water cycle, water distribution on earth, stewardship, conservation, water usage...
  • This is a great opportunity for 8th-grade science review prior to your benchmarks and, eventually, your EOG.  This content is definitely on there.
  • I'll help you digitalize your posters during Friday's class.
Social Studies:
1.  Update to Syllabus:  Warm ups 13-17 are being moved to next week!
2.  Complete slides 8 and 9 (Constitution Project) (classwork and homework)

Additional Example for Slide 8 Content:

Title of Slide:  What is the legacy of the U.S. Constitution?
Example of a Definition of Legacy:  Legacy is how something is viewed and the impact that it has

Plug in the definition:  How is the U.S. Constitution viewed and how has it impacted America?

Thought Processing using the definition in the context provided: It is viewed as a rule book
It is viewed as a foundation to build a community

Lens of Your Amendment
Example:  The 22nd Amendment states that the President may only be elected to 2 terms.  This allows for a change in leadership that will hopefully enhance fairness and a division of power among elected officials.

Answer to the Question:  The legacy of the U.S. Constitution is guidance to produce equality and fairness.
