Science:  Test tomorrow on Oceans and Ecosystems - study & prepare. Use the Study Guide - pay special attention to the "Online Tools and Review Links to use".  Work on your Food Web draft if you did not finish it during class.
Oceans & Ecosystems Study Guide
Notes / Handouts / Papers from your Science Binder to study:
    • Chapter 2, Section 1 notes (paper or digital copy)
    • Ocean Zones diagram and notes
    • Oceans Vocabulary
    • “Under the Sea” ocean zones stations packet
    • Estuaries Fact Sheets and Estuaries booklet
    • Limiting Factors notes & articles
    • Oh, Reindeer activity
    • Ecosystems Terms & Diagram
    • Energy Roles terms
    • Food Webs & Food Chains WebQuest
    • Food Chain & Food Web Notes (front side only)

Concepts & Ideas to understand and know:
  • Name all zones of the ocean and describe the characteristics in each zone.
  • How do organisms survive in the deep zone?
  • Describe estuaries:  location, conditions, type of water found in estuaries.
  • Why are estuaries important, and what types of animal/plant life exist here?  How do estuaries benefit the coast?
  • Be able to recognize or give examples of all vocabulary terms.
    • Example:  Be able to identify a biotic factor from a list.
    • Example:  Be able to select the best example of an herbivore (and other terms).
  • Know examples of limiting factors and how these affect population sizes.
  • Describe and analyze the effects of limiting factors on population sizes.
  • Describe the roles of producers, consumers (all types!), and decomposers in an ecosystem.  Be able to recognize or give examples of all of these energy roles.
  • Be able to analyze and understand the interactions in a food web.  (What do the arrows mean? How are organisms connected?  How do changes in one organism affect other organisms in the food web?)
