Science: Finish the "Modeling Ocean Currents" lab (all questions, including the map).  Use Chapter 4, Section 4 in your textbook if you need help labeling currents or drawing the map. Question 4 on the handout is the same as question 4 on page 169 - use your book to help you understand the question! (There is a typo on the handout for question 4.) Humanities:  Students should have Somerset Homecoming: Recovering a Lost Heritage each day in class and should keep up with the reading as outlined on the green sheet they were given.  Students who have not yet purchased a book should do so immediately so that they can get caught up.

Humanities:  Read the designated pages in Somerset Homecoming!  Be prepared to discuss the memoir tomorrow!

Science: Study your notes on Ocean Water Chemistry.  Finish your summary paragraph on the back of page 10 in your binder - be sure to include the words discussed today (hydrothermal vents and reservoir) if you did not include these already.  Underline the key words as you use them in your summary paragraph.  Click here to watch the video on underwater volcanic eruptions you saw in class today. * All families were notified in September that Somerset Homecoming needed to be purchased.  We started the memoir today but noticed that MANY students still do NOT have a personal copy of the book!  Reading begins tonight and continues through the 11th of December.  Being prepared is an important step to being successful!

Science:  1) Twiz tomorrow!  Study pages 4-9 in your science binder, and the review sheet on the back of page 9.  The quiz will cover the following topics: water distribution on Earth, freshwater, water cycle, water quality, water treatment, and pollution.  Click here for another review of the water treatment process.  Click here for a review of the water cycle.  2) Many students did not complete the Pondwater Lab Evaluation which was due today.  Be sure to complete this if you did not give me your Lab Evaluation today!!

Science:  1) Finish your Pondwater Lab Evaluation - due Monday!  The Honors' Option is available to any student.  Points will be added based on effort, quality, and accuracy.  2) Freshwater Twiz on Tuesday.  Twiz  will cover pages 4-9 in your binder.  The following topics will be covered: freshwater, water on Earth, the water cycle, water quality, polllution, and water treatment.  Use the Review Sheet on the back of page 9 to help you begin studying this weekend!

Humanities:  Continue to research information for the Presidential debate on Tuesday.  Read your independent novel.  Blog posts due tomorrow!

Science: 
ALL CLASSES - Quiz tomorrow on water properties & density.  Study pages 1-3 in your binder and Chapter 2, Sections 1 & 2.  Here are a few extra tools for review:

  • Listen to this song about Water Properties (1st, 2nd & 3rd period - you heard this in class!) - how many properties do you recognize? Can you explain them?  
  • Click here for a few practice questions about water properties (just ignore the pH questions). 
  • Click here for a review of water properties - scroll through the terms, then click on "Scatter" or "Space Race" for a review game!  You can also click on "Test" for a practice test.
 4th & 5th Period - finish the "Explanation" section of the Liquid Layers activity.  Analyze each layer in the test tube and explain its position.  You can use bullet points for each liquid instead of sentences.  Use words such as lower density, higher density, above, below, less dense, more dense in your explanations.
